"Through any kind of transformation, we are different than we were before.
How do we work with the new shapes
if we have very little knowledge of
how to work with them, and what is
the shape of a being?"
~ Curator, Shiloh Sophia McCloud
MUSEA Intentional Creativity Museum is honored to present Metamorphosis - artwork inspired by the process of transformation. This Exhibit features artwork from over 30 artists who reside within and around the Intentional Creativity Movement. Artists were asked to share artwork that reflected the various stages of change and evolution exemplified through the symbolic process of the butterfly’s metamorphosis.
Metamorphosis is defined as 'a change of form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.' The intention for this Call for Art is to curate an exhibit that reflects and honors this transformation.
As transformation is expressed and illustrated in artwork, there is a significant change that happens in the artist as well. When we recognize this transformation within ourselves, we gain insight and agency over our stories. Through Intentional Creativity, we can make our inner lives, inner thoughts, dreams and visions visible. The purpose of bringing this personal work out into the light of a Museum Exhibit is to be witnessed and to invite others to see flutters of their stories in those shared by the artist.
Each day, as we explore and create, we leave a painted trail on our canvas. When this trail becomes a kaleidoscope of color and light…when we see ourselves as wholly different, we feel as if we have morphed into a new version of ourselves. Like the butterfly, in our process we are in a chrysalis of discovery. When the timing is just right, we burst forth and shake our new wings. We celebrate our new selves by witnessing each other through this Art Exhibit, Metamorphosis!
